Dentist
Paul McBratney-Owen
Dr Paul thinks being a dentist is the best job as he gets to problem-solve, work with his hands, and help people! He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA, and has been practicing in Ballarat for almost 10 years. He grew up in St Andrews, Victoria, but loved it here so much his family moved to Ballarat in 2018. He spends his weekends either watching his sons play footy (Central Highland and Ballarat Leagues) or coaching basketball. Dr Paul loves running, whether it’s around the Lake or in the bush, he “always feels so spoilt with what this town has to offer”. Dr Paul is a great choice for dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, and general dental care.

Brandeis McBratney-Owen
Dr Brandeis loves being a dentist, and thinks teeth and the people they come with are awesome! Originally from California, Dr Brandeis has earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Biological Sciences in Dental Medicine from Harvard University, where she taught anatomy, genetics, and developmental biology for 9 years. Dr Brandeis moved to Ballarat with her family in 2018, enjoys travelling and running, and is a great choice for Invisalign, root canal therapy, and general dental care!

Prosthetist
Hendrik Uys
Hendrik grew up in Pretoria, South Africa. He enjoys long walks and hiking, bike-riding, playing cricket and watching a good game of rugby. While in South Africa, Hendrik worked in the IT industry which has proven useful with now working with digital dentures! While studying, Hendrik worked part-time in a dental lab and has since earned a Bachelor of Dental Prosthetics from TAFE Queensland. Hendrik moved to Ballarat in 2022 and enjoys working with full digital dentures, partial dentures, and mouthguards.

Jackie Ansic
Dr Jackie qualified from The University of Sheffield in the UK in 2008, earning a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. From there she worked in York for 6 years before moving to Edinburgh where she not only worked in general dentistry, but had her own mobile facial aesthetics business that regularly took her around the UK and to Denmark! Dr Jackie moved to Australia in 2018 to be closer to her family and has been enjoying life in Ballarat ever since! She now has 2 chickens called “chickens” and a wolfhound called Rufus (they all get on very well!). Hobbies include hiking and getting involved in charity work – including providing aid for people in Africa, Vanuatu, and the Amazon Jungle! Dr Jackie is an amazing choice for orthodontic and facial aesthetic cases!

Ashish Gulati
​Dr Ash is a well-accomplished dentist with over 20 years experience in both Australia and overseas. Growing up in India, Dr Ash earned a Bachelor of Dental Science and moved to Australia in 2015. He places strong importance in evidence-based dentistry and holds himself to the highest standard. Outside of work, Dr Ash enjoys golf, playing soccer, travelling, and spending time with his wife, 2 kids and dog named Kenji! Dr Ash excels in oral surgery such as implants, extractions, and root canal therapy.

Samantha Khaw
Samantha graduated from the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Dental Technology with First Class Honours, and a Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Dental Technology with Distinction. Born in Malaysia, her family moved to New Zealand when she was 4 years old, and in 2024 she decided to move to Australia. She enjoys puzzles and board games, drawing and painting, being active at the gym or beach, and spending time with her older sister, two older brothers, and her parents. Samantha enjoys working with full and partial dentures, as well as mouthguards and bleach trays. Samantha is also keen to learn and work more with implant dentures in the future!

Leigh Hutchinson
Leigh has been a dental prosthetist for 14 years. Born in Ballarat, Leigh moved to Queensland in 2006 to study at Griffith University and has earned a Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Technology, and a Master of Dental Technology in Prosthetics. In 2010, Leigh moved back to Ballarat to work with his father who was also a dental prosthetist, and ran his own business for 10 years before joining the Dental On Errard family! He enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children, as well as travelling, finance, and distance running (he is even involved in some local run clubs). Leigh is a great choice for implant retained overdentures!

Oral Health Therapist
Edan Hopkins
Edan was born and raised in Ballarat. Starting her career in 2011 as a Dental Nurse, completing both her Certificate III and IV in Dental Assisting, she went on to further her education by completing her Bachelor’s Degree of Oral Health Therapy and Hygiene, graduating in 2021. Edan loves working with children. She has 2 kids of her own, as well and 1 cat and 1 dog! Edan loves to help educate her patients on how to ensure optimal oral health, and loves to work with fissure seals, fillings, stainless steel crowns and cleans of course! Outside of work, her interests include fashion, netball, and entertaining her family and friends in her home.
